Four thousand former MG Rover workers have found jobs since they were made redundant when the carmaker went into administration last year. However the government task force set up to help the area said another 1,850 workers remain jobless.

Trade and Industry minister Alan Johnson announced a £2m package to provide support for the workers looking for a job and another £3m has been agreed in principle to create a vocational training centre for teenagers in Longbridge.

The money for the centre will come from the £150m allocated to Rover workers and the West Midlands by the DTI in April.
